Courtney wrote Haze of Hues while helpless on the sidelines of her sister’s infertility and pregnancy losses. She felt the intensity of her ache, while not fully being able to understand it, and did what she does when life’s pains or joys reach exquisite heights- she wrote a song. Since, her sister has welcomed two daughters, who’s astounding light is felt immediately upon their presence.
With sweet relatable reverence, Haze of Hues is a song dedicated to every liver of life. Beaming hope on our blackest walls, it’s a lingering reminder darkness gives way to light and that connection is always within reach.

Lyrics

Sun Shutters Piled High
Enough to fill my room
The calm of silence held me tight
And said without darkness
There is no light

In the Haze of Hues
Canvas white
Or darkest midnight
In the Haze of Hues
Shine Bright

Rub my eyes
Radiate my prism heart
To navigate
From the corners of my pain
I'm no useless art
In a big black cave

In the Haze of Hues
Canvas white
Or darkest midnight
In the Haze of Hues
Shine Bright

Sun Shutters Piled High
Enough to fill my room
The calm of silence held me tight
And said without darkness
There is no light

“Piano-driven arrangements informed by classical and jazz come off effortlessly, evoking both early 70s Stevie Wonder and 90s Tori Amos. Smart, soulful and surprising, Courtney's tunes easily marry sound with story.”
